University of North Alabama
The University of North Alabama is located in the city of Florence, in the northwest corner of the state of Alabama. In addition to its magnificent history, Florence has the advantage of being situated on two lakes formed by Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) dams on the Tennessee River and is, therefore, an important point for fishermen, boaters, and water sports enthusiasts. The city of Florence is ranked as one of the safest cities in the United States, according to FBI Crime Report. UNA is located in 2.5 hour driving range to Birmingham, Nashville, and Memphis.
UNA provides access to a quality education at an affordable price in a caring and supportive environment. All classes at the University are taught by faculty members (which mean that no classes are taught by graduate assistants). The average class size is 21 students to 1 faculty member, and virtually no classes have more than 55 students. The University of North Alabama is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and its world-class professional colleges of Business, Education, and Nursing & Allied Health have additional levels of professional accreditation. Tuition and fees charged by UNA are always kept at the lowest possible cost needed to provide access to a quality education and to meet the needs and interests of the students it serves. UNA also offers English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for those who do not meet the entry requirements.
International Student Services is dedicated to create the best learning experience for international students by providing various support services. These services include free airport pick up services, free shopping shuttles, 24/7 emergency assistance program, free health insurance and immigration advising, various social and cultural site seeing tours, etc. Unlike larger institutions of higher education, the University of North Alabama provides a living and learning environment for international students that is very personal.
UNA provides various scholarship opportunities for full time undergraduate and graduate students in regular academic programs, which are granted after evaluating the performance of the student's work at UNA. In addition to Endowment scholarships, service scholarships, performance scholarships, ISS offers Special Scholarships for international students.
UNA's CELL Program has recently accredited by Commission on English Language Learning CEA and UNA became one of the few language programs in the world accredited by CEA.
