GEC courses are recognised as of high standing and GEC is on the approved list of the UK Department for Education and Skills (DfES). The IDFP and IPMFP programmes are recognised by EDEXCEL, an important UK validating body. The IDFP, IPMFP and IPMP programmes are also recognised by a number of UK universities as a qualification for entry. Some universities guarantee a place on a bachelors degree upon successful completion of the IDFP and a masters degree on successful completion of the IPMP. A number of other universities who recognize the IDFP will offer places on a case by case basis.
The International Degree Foundation Programme (IDFP) and the International Pre-Medical Foundation Programme (IPMFP)
The IDFP is a one year academic programme that gives entry to bachelor's degree courses in the areas of Business, Computing and Science. There is also a specialised version: the Medical Foundation Programme that is recognised for access to Medical School. There is a strong emphasis on the supporting subjects of language, communication skills and information technology.
The IDFP has been running successfully in Nigeria for 10 years. An important feature of this programme is that whilst a large number of universities accept it as an entry qualification, a significant number of them are prepared to guarantee a place on successful completion of the IDFP. This is an indication of the high regard in which the programme is held.
The International Pre-masters Programme (IPMP)
The IPMP programme is an innovative programme that targets the large and important market of students wishing to study for a masters degree, but whose qualifications do not quite meet the entry requirements of UK universities.
The one semester programme brings you up to the required level and prepares you for entry to MBA programmes and to Masters programmes in the areas of business and computing. There is strong emphasis on the supporting subjects of language, communications skills and information technology.
As with the IDFP, a number of universities guarantee a place on successful completion of the course.
The English Language Programme
The English language programme is designed to support the academic programmes. Depending on the level of language competence students will complete a language course prior to commencing the academic programmes or, if needed, will follow a remedial course as part of their chosen programme.
